The changing distribution of housing by price, attributes and sales, 1983-1987.

From building society records of over a million sales, showing 633 parliamentary constituencies on an equal population cartogram - software by author on an Archimedes computer.

The dramatic rise in the worth and sales of houses is clear, as is also the hole in central London, where few houses are actually sold, but those that are tend to fetch a high price. This picture can later be compared with, for instance, the distributions of occupation, unemployment and voting.
