1987 census of employment by 10,444 frozen census wards in the equal population cartogram - software by author on an Archimedes computer.

The changes show no clear pattern, although it is surprising that agriculture has arisen recently near many large towns. The blue and green of growing service industries is more common in the capital, but expanding industries are scattered everywhere. Remember that this is only the change in three years and the geography of the industrial landscape is hardly likely to alter significantly in such a short time.
