The distributions of employment, occupation and graduates in London (Colour).

Equal population projections of the 16,975 enumeration districts of the 1981 census in London - software by author on an Archimedes computer.

Notice how these three sets of three distributions mirror each other. A serpentine streak of affluence snakes through the centre of the city, closely flanked by areas of the highest unemployment, lowest qualifications and worst jobs. If anything, the diversity becomes greater and the divisions are even sharper as the scale is increased.

Third print from a series of three.
