Trees drawn showing local housing market structure (Appendix D) in the 633 mainland parliamentary constituencies on the equal population cartogram — software by author on an Archimedes computer.
A clear order can be seen in the forest of housing markets. Tall thin trees of exclusive expensive dwellings are seen being sold in inner London, thicker but less tall in the suburbs. Short stocky thickets of cheaper, more basic houses are to be found further north, while it is in Scotland that the smallest bushes of inexpensive housing are located (outside Edinburgh).
