The changing distribution of first place party in Britain, 1955-1987 (Colour).

705 consistent parliamentary constituencies coloured, when a change in representation occurred (Appendix C) on ten equal electorate cartograms software by author on an Archimedes computer.

The pattern of changes is shown here between ten general elections, and the implications of the 1979-1983 redistribution of seats. White rings are used to show new constituencies. The changes are fairly evenly spread across the country, but interesting tendencies to cluster and other features can be seen.
