1981/85/89 County county elections - changing English voting composition surface.

The difference between the differences in the density distribution of votes in electoral divisions (Rallings C. & Thrasher M., 1985 giving 1981 results and 1989) projected upon the electoral triangle and shown as surfaces from four different view points by author, Ace Computing and !Works software.

Overall the second derivative of change shows a collapse in the centre and rise to the edges much more than just an increase in tactical voting. Gone are the days of compromise politics at the local level. The country is now clearly divided between the smallest of places, those localities on the Labour-Conservative axis against those on the Conservative-Liberal line. Presenting a dual set of two-party politics, for the two different classes of area which emerged in the 1980s.
